Bayern following situation with Vinícius Júnior (ESPN)
In what could only be described as a wild story, Bayern Munich is following the ongoing contract strife between Real Madrid and Vinícius Júnior and could look to get involved.
Visit afnews.co.za for more information.
The Bavarians are not alone, though, as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the situation, which seems to stem from the current stalemate between the Brazilian and Real Madrid over a contract extension:
Real Madrid have been unable to persuade striker Vinícius Júnior to extend his existing contract and are now said to be considering his future, according to the Daily Mail. The 25-year-old forward was part of the Brazil side that was knocked out of the World Cup round of 16 by Norway, and since his nation’s underwhelming departure the focus has returned to his ongoing contract situation in the Spanish capital. It’s believed that the forward’s salary demands don’t align with the club’s plans, and as such a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, as well as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, are closing following the situation.
How long before we start seeing Michael Olise for Vinícius Júnior swap deal rumors?
Falk says Pérez didn’t make brash proclamation to Hainer (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Last week, we saw a weird anecdote where Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez allegedly told Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer that: “In the end, you will have to sell Olise to me.”
Sport Bild’s Christian Falk says that is not true:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez told his Bayern counterpart, Herbert Hainer, “In the end, you will have to sell Olise to me”. Hainer did attend a meeting with Pérez at the Bernabeu. Of course, when guys like this are together, there is a lot of joking around. Naturally, there was talk around Olise along the lines of, Hey, someday we may get him – but it was a joke! It was far from being a completely serious business chat. I’ve mentioned this subject previously when discussing the agreement between Hainer and Pérez around any prospective bid for Michael Olise.
The pair, I want to reiterate, are very close, but there’s an agreement between them that there will be nothing this summer. If there will be something in the future, Florentino Pérez has already promised Herbert Hainer that he will make a call first before they do anything with the player and his agents. So, everyone can keep cool. The France international is staying with Bayern beyond the summer. Next season is a new season, and you never know! Perhaps Bayern Munich will end up winning the Champions League next season, and Olise will fancy a new experience. You never know! But for the moment: he’s staying.
The really weird part about this story is that it is totally conceivable that Pérez would say something like he was alleged to have stated to Hainer.
Juve, Milan vying for Palhinha? (Sempre Milan)
Juventus and AC Milan could both be looking to bring in João Palhinha:
AC Milan and Juventus are expected to do battle for the signing of a Bayern Munich midfielder, according to a report from Portugal.
Both Milan and Juventus are eyeing potential reinforcements for the middle of the park. On Friday, Portuguese source Record stated that Joao Palhinha is a name the Rossoneri management like, and he is someone Ruben Amorim knows well.
Having finished a loan spell at Tottenham, Palhinha is not expected to remain at his parent club Bayern Munich who are in turn looking to sell. According to A Bola (via Calciomercato.com), Italy is a concrete possibility as his next destination.
According to the Portuguese newspaper, Palhinha will only be passing through Munich, and Vincent Kompany has already approved his exit. Amorim also appreciates the former Sporting CP star, potentially triggering a sort of auction with Juventus.
If Palhinha exhausts his options in Portugal, he might have a few good options in Italy.
Salah to MLS? (ESPN)
MLS clubs might be making a late push to bring Mo Salah to North America on a permanent basis:
Major League Soccer clubs have made calls to look into the availability of Mohamed Salah, who has been a free agent since the expiry of his Liverpool contract and continues to receive attention from the Saudi Pro League, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old has previously refused to commit to deciding his future, but now the World Cup is over the Egypt international will make a decision.
You would think that Salah is probably going to get a massive offer from Saudi Arabia, right? Maybe not per another report from ESPN:
The Sun reports that former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s desired salary is proving to be something of a barrier in the Egypt star’s potential move to Saudi Arabia, and now the Athletic reports that MLS side Sporting Kansas City could take advantage. Salah has long been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League but it has widely been reported that he would prefer to stay in Europe. However, as he mulls over his options, Sporting Kansas City — with a majority owner the son of Egyptian immigrants — the MLS side is keen to make a statement signing, with Salah the perfect poster boy.
Could Forest get Read (Sport Witness)
Nottingham Forest could be the frontrunner to land Feyenoord right-back and rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Givairo Read:
Nottingham Forest will soon get ahead of Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Feyenoord’s Givairo Read.
Manchester City have been following the right-back for several months. In April, we relayed news the Etihad club will challenge Bayern Munich for his signature.
A month later, Sport Witness covered claims that Manchester City have taken the lead, pushing Bayern Munich aside.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich haven’t made advances yet, allowing Nottingham Forest to enter the race.
However, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano says that Nottingham Forest’s most recent bid for Read will be rejected:
🚨🌳 Nottingham Forest submitted €17.5m official bid to Feyenoord for right back Gjivairo Read.
The proposal has been rejected but #NFFC expected to return to the table soon. 🇳🇱
Sagnol says Olise is best in the world (Sport Bild vis @iMiaSanMia)
Former Bayern Munich right-back and ex-assistant coach Willy Sagnol thinks Michael Olise is the best player on the planet.
“Michael Olise is the best in the world, far ahead of all other players. If he doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or at the end of the year, something is seriously wrong with football,” Sagnol said.
