The headliner of the entire MLB Draft was star shortstop Roch Cholowsky. The two-time Big Ten Player of the Year was the consensus No. 1 overall prospect leading up to the draft, and he ultimately landed with the Chicago White Sox as the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Three More Bruins Were Selected in Later Rounds
While Cholowsky’s future team seemed more certain going into the draft, the future of other UCLA baseball players were less clear. By the end of Day 1, three more Bruins heard their names called in the draft.
Right-handed pitcher Logan Reddemann went next in the second round. The Colorado Rockies selected the junior with the No. 38 overall pick. The Palmdale, California was the ace for the Bruins in 2026 and will now start his professional career with the Rockies.

Still in the second round, the Cincinnati Reds drafted first baseman Mulivai Levu with the No. 70 overall pick.
Levu was a clutch hitter for the Bruins, finishing second in the nation with 85 RBIs in 2025 and hitting two walkoffs in two days of the Big Ten Tournament to win the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Award. Levu also led UCLA with a .340 batting average this season.

In the fourth round of the draft, the Athletics drafted third baseman Roman Martin with the No. 111 overall pick. Martin is the first Bruins the Athletics have drafted since Luke Persico in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
Martin was named the Los Angeles Regional Most Outstanding Player in 2025 when he helped the Bruins reach the Men’s College World Series for the first time in 12 years. He finished the 2026 season as an All-Big Ten honoree.
