The Cleveland Guardians are known for developing pitchers very well.

They just drafted a guy who is 6-foot-8 and touches 100 miles per hour with his fastball.

That sure sounds like a guy to be turned into a star.

His name: Savion Sims.

The Guardians drafted him in the seventh round of the 2026 MLB Draft out of high school in Texas.

The question, of course, is about Sims' college commitment.

A commitment to Oklahoma is a big deal, and it's not something recruits will always pass up.

The Guardians probably know what they're doing here, though. The odds that they'd use a seventh-round pick on a player they aren't sure about signing aren't that high -- at least in the seventh round.

Sometimes, players like this will be drafted in the 19th or 20th round as a sort of "Why not?"

But in the seventh? That smells like someone Cleveland plans to sign.

They'll surely pay over-slot value if they do, but that means they probably have a discount lined up in the earlier rounds.

It'll definitely be one to watch. If Cleveland signs Sims, that's a huge draft win for the Guardians.
