Sam Darnold was the latest player for the Seattle Seahawks to be up for recognition in ESPN’s annual top 10 positional rankings on Monday.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler in the network’s ranking of the top 10 quarterbacks for 2026, Darnold fell just short of making the list but was named as an honorable mention.

"What a career bounce back. He's been lights-out for two years. Deserves to be in the top 10," a high-ranking AFC team official said.

Darnold threw for 4,000 yards for the second consecutive season in 2025 with 4,048 and recorded a 67.7 percent completion rate on the year. The 29-year-old helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl at the end of the season.

The league executives, coaches and scouts that were polled for the ranking did not vote Darnold in this year, though his play warranted placement among his peers. Nevertheless, he will have the chance to build upon the year that he had in 2025 next season and take the final step into being recognized among the very best at the position next year.
