Every day from now until the start of training camp, we’re counting down our 30 Most Important Eagles for the 2026 season. We’ll recap their 2025 season, look ahead to 2026, and tackle the most significant question facing them this year.
Next up is Moro Ojomo, who may not be the first name mentioned when Philadelphia Eagles fans discuss the defensive front, but that says more about the talent around him than it does about his value.
Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis are the headliners. They are the former first-round picks, the physical centerpieces, and the players most likely to draw national attention. Ojomo, however, has become one of the reasons Philadelphia’s defensive line can remain dangerous beyond its stars. That makes him No. 23 on our list of the 30 most important Eagles entering the 2026 season.
Background
Position: Defensive tackle
Age: 24
Experience: Fourth NFL season
2026 cap hit: $3,693,446
Ojomo enters the final year of his rookie contract with a much different profile than the one he carried as a seventh-round pick out of Texas. He is no longer simply a developmental lineman trying to earn snaps. He has become a legitimate piece of Vic Fangio’s defensive front and one of the Eagles’ more interesting long-term roster questions.
That contract status matters. Philadelphia already has major resources tied to the defensive line, and Carter’s long-term future will eventually become one of the organization’s biggest financial decisions. If Ojomo produces another strong season, the Eagles may have to decide how much they can realistically invest in a third interior defensive lineman.
2025 recap
Ojomo’s 2025 season turned potential into production. He finished with six sacks and became a more disruptive part of Philadelphia’s interior rotation, showing the ability to affect quarterbacks while still holding up as part of a deep defensive front.
His growth was not accidental. Ojomo earned a 72.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 19th among 134 qualified interior defensive linemen. His 70.3 pass-rush grade also reflected the step forward he made as more than a rotational body. He became someone offensive lines had to account for, particularly when lined up alongside Carter or Davis.
2026 outlook
Ojomo’s role should remain significant because the Eagles want to win with waves of pressure. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio does not need every defensive lineman to play 70 snaps. He needs players who can stay fresh, win their matchups, and make the rotation difficult to block for four quarters.
Ojomo fits that plan. His quickness, energy, and interior disruption give Philadelphia another reliable option, and his presence allows the Eagles to avoid overloading Carter and Davis during a long season. If he continues ascending, the Eagles could again have one of the NFL’s best interior defensive line groups.
Biggest question
The biggest question is whether Ojomo can produce well enough to force an uncomfortable financial conversation.
That is a good problem, but it is still a problem. If he builds in 2025, he could price himself into a market that may be difficult for Philadelphia to match. For now, the Eagles need him to focus on the present. Ojomo’s importance in 2026 is tied to depth, disruption, and durability. If he provides all three, Philadelphia’s defensive front will be much closer to championship level again.
