Rookie Boston Celtics big man Chris Cenac Jr. is reportedly already paying his opportunity at the NBA level forward to the next generation of basketball prospects. Boston's No. 27 overall pick is evidently hosting a basketball camp in his hometown city of New Orleans, Louisiana. According to recent reporting from local news station FOX 8 reporter Andre Johnson, Cenac Jr. is hosting a cohort of local youth looking to elevate their own game on the court.

"I remember Greg Monroe had a camp out here one time and I was there. I was probably about 7, 8 years old," recalled the Celtics rookie of his own experiences with such camps. "That was the first thing I thought about… the feeling I had when I was at his camp and looking up to him."

"I want all these kids to look up to me… and know that coming from New Orleans, your dreams could come true," he added. Cenac Jr. also shared he is looking forward to working with another player hailing from the same area in Louisiana, Chalmette alum Mitchell Robinson, his new teammate in Boston's frontcourt.

"That’s pretty cool that we both came from South Louisiana," said the Houston alum. "That’s something that we’re definitely going to talk about a little bit more… we were definitely going to have more conversations when the season comes around."

As for the teams that passed him by in the 2026 NBA Draft, letting him fall to Boston at No. 27? "All the teams that passed up on me, I’m looking forward to those games ... That’s all I got to say."
