The Cleveland Browns quarterback had a brutal 2025 rookie campaign, going 3-4 as a starter with seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions, a league-worst passer rating, and bottom-tier advanced metrics across the board.
But, during a recent sit-down on The Nadeska Show by Apple Music, Sanders laid out a new mindset he believes will translate directly to his play when the pads come back on.
For Sanders, fixing his tape starts with cleaning up his daily life.
“I can’t be consistent on the field and not have consistency in my personal life,” Sanders said on the podcast. “Whatever you do in your personal life is going to bleed into how you feel, so, if you’re disciplined you’re gonna to make the right reads.”
That off-field discipline, Sanders explained, is about cutting out the noise and simplifying his routine to let his natural talent take over.
“I understand how real life translates to the game, and that’s why I simplified everything,” he added. “For me to go out there and execute, to go out there and do what I can do. I know I can, so that’s all that matters is just displaying it for the world.”
Looking back at his rookie bumps, Sanders remains confident the flashes of playmaking talent he showed are real.
“It was a tough year last year,” Sanders admitted. “When I look back I’m like ‘dang, well at least I made it through there’ ‘at least I made some crazy plays out there.’ I got it in me, all I got to do now is show everybody else.”
Ironically, despite all the talk of tuning out distractions and locking in on football, Sanders dropped these gems while on the podcast to promote his latest music releases.
Whether the off-field tunes distract from or harmonize with his development remains to be seen. But if Cleveland’s offense is going to take a leap, Sanders will need his new life philosophy to pay instant dividends on game day.
