Angel Reese’s bold looks have certainly turned heads at the All-Star weekend. But a bigger attraction was her taking inspiration from her new Barbie collab to express herself. Just like everyone in the United Center over the weekend, Reese’s boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr., was also amused by her and just had a three-word reaction to Reese’s Barbie-style look at the All-Star Game.
“Proud Of You,” said Carter Jr., while replying to Reese’s social media post.

Reese has had a long fascination with the Barbie-style look and explained her desire to sport it at the All-Star weekend as a unique choice collaboration.
“I think it’s been three years now since the Bayou Barbie came about when I was in Baton Rouge,” she said during her media availability on July 24. “And I used to put Barbie stuff on merch and stuff, and I wasn’t really supposed to. So I told them I really wanted to have a Barbie doll one day, and to have a Barbie is like, you gotta be iconic.
“You have to do some real things, and I knew it was gonna take some time, because there’s so many great women that are Barbie dolls, and they have their own doll. But I knew that’s what I wanted, and I spoke that into existence.
“So I’m just really grateful. I’m really happy to be able to do it this weekend, All-Star weekend, back in Chicago, being able to sell the shoe and have my shoe on the Barbie doll to collab with that, and also be having a little get-together with the Together that I’m part owner of as well.”
Clearly, Reese’s relationship with ‘Barbie’ goes beyond a fashion choice, as she is intricately connected with it.
It’s not the first time Reese has become a talking point at All-Star weekend this year because of her ‘Barbie’ wardrobe choice. Reese arrived in a similar head-to-toe custom pink outfit, complete with pink hair, heels, and a handbag, as she made her way into the tunnel at the United Center in Chicago.
Popular culture and fashion have always been at the intersection of women’s basketball. And Reese remains a prominent symbol for this, as she has always aspired to modeling as her alternate career choice.
She also has standing deals with brands like Good American, a denim brand, where she headlines fashion campaigns specifically modeled for inclusivity and tall women. Reese has also teamed up with the luxury design brand ‘Coach’ for premium leather goods and luxury accessories campaigns.
Fans will now hope to see Reese back in action on July 30, as the Atlanta Dream take on the Dallas Wings in what would be a very closely contested game.
