Getty ImagesLeBron James and the new-look Philadelphia 76ers will be showcased 34 times on national television during the 2026-27 NBA season, according to Front Office Sports.
That is the maximum number allocated across Disney’s ABC/ESPN, NBCUniversal’s NBC Sports/Peacock, and Amazon’s Prime Video.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said before the 41-year-old James dropped his latest decision last Friday that the league was waiting for James to release its schedule.
Among the highly anticipated matchups for the 76ers, who will feature a starting five of James, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid will be their games against the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks; Brown’s former team, the Boston Celtics; the new-look Miami Heat featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo; James’ first team, the Cleveland Cavaliers; James’ most recent team, the L.A. Lakers; and Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, a team James considered before choosing the Sixers.
"I would like him to make his announcement already, so we can finish the schedule, because, as you might imagine, the teams are calling us, the networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule," Silver said before James’ decision.
“But it will influence how we set the schedule, how we set opening week, Christmas Day, etc. So I need him to make a decision.”
In the wake of James’ latest move, the 76ers jumped to the third favorite behind the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder to win the NBA title, ahead of the Knicks and 2024 NBA champion Celtics.
