Now that Cody Bellinger is out for 4-6 weeks with a hamstring strain, the Yankees are missing the following players from their lineup: Bellinger, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton. 

Those are three of New York's highest-paid position players who have or will miss a significant amount of time. 

It's clearer than ever that the Yankees need more bats. The lineups they've rolled out recently are not going to lead to many wins, which puts pressure on the pitching staff. 

In a Q and A with The Athletic's Jim Bowden, he was asked whether the Yankees will target two players from the Los Angeles Angels. One is a catcher, and the other is an outfielder. 

These would be Austin Wells and Bellinger's replacements. But Bowden wrote that the Yankees should "shoot higher" than these potential trade targets if they want a legitimate chance to win.

"I don’t think the Yankees should have any interest in [Jo] Adell or [Logan] O’Hoppe," Bowden wrote. "They need to shoot higher than them if they want to win the division and have a chance to get back to the World Series." 

O'Hoppe would become the right-handed hitting catcher the Yankees desperately seek, but he's had a poor year with the bat (.575 OPS).

At that point, New York might as well keep Ali Sanchez. 

Adell has poor on-base numbers and plays subpar defense in right field. Sure, he would bring power to the lineup. But the Yankees need more than that.
