Could some former Arizona State athletes receive an extra year of eligibility?

It appears so.

Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court of Colorado granted a class-wide preliminary injunction that requires the NCAA to declare eligible high school athletes who entered collegiate competition during the 2022-23 year and exhausted their eligibility in the 2025-26 competition year.

This would bring those in the high school class of 2022 into the current era of 5-for-5, which allows an athlete to play for five years following the completion of high school.

It is unclear if football players who signed contracts as undrafted free agents will be permitted to return to college.
