On her social media platforms, Heidi Giokos broke her silence after making headlines over her shock departure from eNCA.
Heidi – whose sister is CNN correspondent Eleni Giokos – thanked her followers for their encouraging words and support.

WHY WAS SHE FIRED?
According to reports, Heidi Giokos was fired from eNCA following an internal disciplinary hearing for failing to disclose or obtain permission to appear in a paid car advertisement.
According to eNCA’s employment contracts, staff must declare any external work and obtain management approval before taking it on. The disciplinary hearing found that Heidi had, as a result, breached her contract, particularly under its declaration and conflict-of-interest policies.
eNCA implicitly stated that employees are expected to maintain editorial independence.
Heidi Giokos was not the only news presenter who was shown the door – business anchor Rofhiwa Madzena and another senior technical staff member were sacked after allegedly failing to declare outside business interests.
