There’s quite a battle for the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback position, and both players want to get the ball to rookie KC Concepcion. However, the receiver suffered an injury scare during training camp, according to a post on X by Mary Kay Cabot.
“KC Concepcion didn’t immediately go inside for treatment after coming down hard on his right shoulder, so maybe it’s not too bad.”
The Browns have put a lot of stock in Concepcion. They slotted him as WR2 and gave him a four-year fully guaranteed rookie contract worth $20 million. He is expected to be a focal point of new coach Todd Monken’s offense.

He’s part of a receiver trio that has Jerry Jeudy at WR1 and another rookie, Denzel Boston, at WR3. The young guys have been showing out so far, according to brownswire.com.
“Concepcion and fellow rookie receiver Denzel Boston have been the talk of training camp to this point,” Cory Kinnan wrote. “The Browns need these two young receivers to completely change the face of their wide receiver room, which was one of the worst in the NFL a year ago.”
And Concepcion also stood out in earlier work with the Browns this year, according to Sports Illustrated.
“The speed was real,” Nick Pedone wrote. “The inside-outside ability looked real. And the Browns used Concepcion in motion several times – something that could become a pivotal piece of Monken’s new offense.”
However, the Browns must get their quarterback house in order. Neither Deshaun Watson nor Shedeur Sanders offers a high ceiling going into the 2026 season. And the receivers will be at the mercy of one of those arms.
There is some promise for the Browns’ offense if they get some kind of quality play from the quarterback position. Young running back Quinshon Judkins is part of that positive profile. But there are so many questions and so much youth with an unproven head coach. It could get ugly fast.
