Former Sharks Netminder's Contract Not Renewed by Sportsnet

In a social media post on Wednesday, former San Jose Sharks goaltender Kelly Hrudey announced that his contract with Sportsnet, one of Canada's biggest media companies, had not been renewed for the 2026-27 season.

Hrudey, 65, finished his playing career as a member of the Sharks organization following the 1997-98 season. Though, he's more widely remembered for his time with the Sharks' state rivals, the Los Angeles Kings. 

Throughout his career, Hrudey appeared in 677 NHL games across 15 seasons. During that time, he had a record of 271-265-88, a goals against average of 3.43, and a .893 save percentage.

Since retiring, Hrudey has been a mainstay in hockey media. Most recently, he had been serving as an analyst covering the Calgary Flames during their television broadcasts, a role he began during the 2014-15 campaign. He also featured on Hockey Night in Canada, beginning that job shortly after his retirement from playing.

Hrudey did state that he's not retiring, referring to his future as "act three," but did not specify his plans for the immediate future.
