Pitso Mosimane: Compare his Bafana Bafana salary offer to Hugo Broos’ R16.8 million

Mosimane’s representatives believe the remuneration should be considered against the package previously given to Hugo Broos. Broos reportedly earned around R1.4 million per month during his time in charge of Bafana Bafana. That works out to approximately R16.8 million a year.

The Belgian coach also reportedly received around R70,000 per month for accommodation in Sandton, as well as return flights to Belgium.
PITSO MOSIMANE CAMP POINTS TO HUGO BROOS
The Mosimane camp reportedly considers that package an important reference point in the current negotiations.
The argument is not simply about Mosimane’s personal remuneration. His proposed technical team includes three assistants, meaning the overall cost of the coaching structure must also be considered.

The camp has reportedly questioned whether the package being discussed properly reflects the responsibility attached to leading South Africa.
According to Sunday World, one statement from the report makes their position clear: “Remuneration should not be an impediment.”
However, the camp also stressed that Mosimane’s stance should not be interpreted as simply chasing money. “This is a commitment to country, not market value,” the camp said.

SAFA MUST FIND COMMON GROUND
The situation leaves SAFA with an important decision to make. The association has already given the appointment its political backing through the NEC.
Now, it must reach an agreement with Mosimane and his technical team on the financial structure. The timing is also important, with South Africa preparing for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
The first qualifiers are scheduled for September, giving SAFA limited time to finalise the appointment and allow the new coach to prepare.
For now, the R16.8 million benchmark attached to Broos’ reported package has emerged as a key part of the negotiations.
