Patrick Henry to appeal VHSL realignment proposal

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) -- WFXR Sports has learned Roanoke City Public Schools has filed an appeal to the Virginia High School League's proposal to move the Patriots from Class 5 Region C to Class 6 Region A for the four year cycle for the 2027-28 school year through 2031-32 school year. The basis of the appeal is due to an athletic travel hardship the proposed realignment plan would have on Patrick Henry. Monday was the deadline to file the appeal. Four years ago, PH successfully appealed to stay in Class 5 after the VHSL proposed to move the Patriots to Class 6.
On August 25th, the appeal committee meets to hear the appeal and recommend the final alignment plan to the executive committee. The five-person panel shall render its decision in response to the appeal and shall inform Patrick Henry within 30 days.
