Now that he is retired, Russell Wilson will be eligible for the Hall of Fame in the coming years. But while his path to Canton, Ohio might be debatable, that does not mean he cannot be happy for those who made it.
On Saturday, Luke Kuechly was inducted into the Hall of Fame, along with Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Adam Vinatieri, and Roger Craig. Wilson was proud to see Kuechly get into the prestigious club.
They had their fair share of intense meetings, and the 37-year-old Wilson recalled them in his congratulatory message.

“Congrats, Luke Kuechly! From NC State vs. Boston College days to (Carolina) Panthers vs. (Seattle) Seahawks matchups! It was always a chess match,” said the 1o-time Pro Bowler on X.
“Congrats on the NFL gold jacket.”
Kuechly played for the Panthers from 2012 to 2019. He was forced to cut his career short due to various concussions. He was a seven-time All-Pro, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and one-time Defensive Player of the Year. He was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. He logged 1,092 combined tackles, 12.5 sacks, 67 passes defended, 18 interceptions, and seven forced fumbles.
Wilson, for his part, won the Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2014.
In his speech, Kuechly admitted that he misses the camaraderie in the NFL, as reported by The Charlotte Observer’s Scott Fowler.
“It’s the conversations that have nothing to do with sports. It’s celebrating together after wins and hurting together after losses. There’s no way to measure what the game of football has given to me, the joy it’s provided, and more than anything, the people that I’ve been so blessed to be around,” said the legendary linebacker.
Wilson, meanwhile, will begin his broadcasting career after signing with CBS Sports in June. He turned down an offer from the New York Jets to be the backup quarterback.
Last season, he started three games for the New York Giants, throwing for 831 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.
