Eight days separate us from today and Juventus’ season opener. And as things stand now, we don’t know for sure who Juve’s starting goalkeeper is going to be. For a club that used to never have to worry about who is starting in goal for so long, that is very much not a situation we’re used to.

We know everything going on with the starter for much of the last two seasons, Michele Di Gregorio. Over that time, the same man has been his backup — and that would be Mattia Perin, a player who has been at Juventus on and off ever since he first signed in the summer of 2018. Perin’s hairstyle is much different compared to when he first was looked at as competition for Wojciech Szczesny, but ever since then he has never been a regular starter at the biggest club in Italy.

Could Di Gregorio’s struggles result in that chance coming as stands a few months shy of turning 34 years old?

At this point, who really knows. There’s been so many pivots and disappointing developments over the last three months that it’s hard to really know how this is going to turn out and who will be starting in goal for Juventus once the summer transfer window closes.

It’s anybody’s guess. But it’s also something that has suddenly resulted in a question that needs to be asked simply because there seems to be few logical options out there left to consider.

So, the Juventus Question of the Day is this: Should the Bianconeri give Mattia Perin a chance and have him be the team’s starting goalkeeper come the opening game of the 2026-27 season next weekend?
