Now, the Kahwka Club member appears set on atoning those close calls.

Weir, who was four strokes out of first place at the Aug. 16 start to the EDGA Amateur’s final round, chased down leader Drew Deimel over the back nine at Lawrence Park Golf Club.

The duo required a playoff to determine this year’s titlist after they tied at 7-under par following 54 regulation holes.

It ended after 55 thanks to Weir, who successfully defended with a birdie three for the course’s 364-yard first hole. His comeback victory vs. Deimel, the 2010 champion, occurred after the Amateur’s third playoff since 2019.
