Sundowns and Bafana winger announced by a big club in Denmark

The 22-year-old outgoing Sundowns winger has signed a four-year contract with the Danish club. It follows after he established himself as an important player for Bafana Bafana.

Maseko arrives in Copenhagen after making his mark on the international stage during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring the winning goal against South Korea.

Maseko uses his left foot, direct style and explosive speed to take on defenders in one-on-one situations.
Furthermore, F.C Copenhagen director of football Kristjaan Speakman believes Maseko will give the team another attacking option while adding a different profile to the squad.
“We’re building a balanced squad with different profiles and Thapelo is an exciting addition,” Speakman said. “He’s comfortable to play on both sides of the pitch and likes to attack space with and without the ball.”
Additionally, head coach Bo Svensson also highlighted Maseko’s pace and penetration, while acknowledging that there are still areas of his game that can improve.
“In Thapelo, we get an explosive, dynamic player with exceptional qualities in direct, 1-on-1 situations,” Svensson said. His new coach believes the winger’s potential is high and expects him to develop further in Denmark.

Maseko described the move as a dream come true and revealed that former Copenhagen star Sibusiso Zuma helped convince him about the club.
“I am very proud of this agreement. It is a dream come true,” Maseko said. The South Africa international is determined to make an immediate impact and has arrived in Denmark with big ambitions.
“I come here to win, and I am very excited to get out on the pitch and give everything I’ve got.” Maseko will wear the number 12 shirt for F.C. Copenhagen and is expected to begin the next chapter of his career with the Danish club.
