DWU basketball to host home classic to open 2026-27

Aug. 21—MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University will again host a regular-season basketball classic as part of the non-conference schedules for both the Tiger men's and women's basketball teams in 2026.
The CorTrust Classic will be held at the Corn Palace on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31. The DWU women will host William Penn (Iowa) on Oct. 30 and Valley City State (N.D.) on Oct. 31, while the Tiger men will host Bethany (Kan.) on Oct. 30 and Valley City State on Oct. 31.

It will be the first home regular-season basketball classic for the Tigers since the men hosted an event last in 2016.
DWU announced its basketball schedules in full on Friday. The Tiger women will host its first game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 25, hosting Northern State at 4 p.m. in an exhibition game at the Corn Palace.
The DWU women will play in a pair of road/neutral site classics. The Tigers return to the Cattle Classic in Seward, Nebraska, playing in-state foe Dakota State on Nov. 6 and then Montana Tech on Nov. 7. In December, the Tigers will play Missouri Baptist and Arizona Christian in Phoenix, Arizona at ACU's Classic on Dec. 18 and 19.
The DWU men will travel to Florida before the Christmas holiday, playing two games at the Cruzin Classic against St. Thomas (Fla.) on Dec. 19 and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) on Dec. 20.
Both Tiger teams are also playing exhibition games against South Dakota State in Brookings. The DWU women will play Dec. 2 against the Jacks, while the DWU men will play at First Bank and Trust Arena on Jan. 2. That comes one day after the Tigers host a home Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader on New Year's Day against Midland at the Corn Palace.
The GPAC schedule for the Tiger teams begins on Nov. 14 hosting Hastings, while the first road GPAC doubleheader is Nov. 18 at Morningside.
