"Yogi ji is saying that P in PDA stands for Pakistan. Then I will say BJP means 'Bhag Jao Pakistan'," Akhilesh said, while attacking the chief minister over his remarks.

He said the more the BJP's "pain" increased, the stronger the PDA would become. "The greater their pain, the further PDA will advance. PDA also means 'Prem, Daya, Apnapan' (love, compassion and belonging). The more we Samajwadis bring people together with love, compassion and belonging, the stronger the Samajwadi Party will become. In the future, it will form a historic government," he said.

Akhilesh also accused the BJP government of misusing power and alleged that corruption and the diversion of government funds had become its main agenda. He alleged that people belonging to the PDA social grouping were being subjected to harassment and claimed that fake encounters were taking place in the state.

The SP chief also attacked the government over the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He alleged that the government had failed to take the matter seriously and had tried to protect influential people allegedly involved in the theft.

"Only the Samajwadi Party has the strength to defeat the BJP's conspiracy," Akhilesh said.

The SP president's remarks came a day after Yogi, while attacking the Samajwadi Party, accused it of changing colours like a chameleon. The chief minister said the party had first described the "P" in PDA as "pichhda" (backward) and later changed it to "pandit" (Brahmin).

"These are people who change colours like a chameleon. Earlier they said P meant pichhda, then they made it pandit. Some day they will make the definition of P Pakistan," Yogi said.

Yogi also attacked the SP over rising prices, asking, "Inflation has increased. What are the prices of sugar today?"

The exchange reflects the sharpening political contest between the BJP and SP in Uttar Pradesh, where the PDA formulation has been a key part of the SP's political strategy. Akhilesh has used PDA to describe the coalition of backward classes, Dalits and minorities that the party seeks to consolidate ahead of the Assembly elections.
