From match-winners and defensive rocks to players who announced themselves on the opening weekend, we've selected the best-performing XI from the first round ofPremier League fixtures. Who made the cut?
Goalkeeper: Konstantinos Tzolakis - Hull City
Five saves from the Greek international on a strong debut for Hull. The 23-year-old recruit from Olympiacos twice kept out Bryan Mbeumo with good stops on route to a clean sheet, as Hull secured the upset of the weekend.
Right-back: Michael Kayode - Brentford
A memorable milestone for Michael Kayode was celebrated in style asBrentford dealt Spurs a reality check. The full-back was making his 50th Premier League appearance and marked it with a goal in the 3-0 win. Always involved, he's emerging as one of the best two-way full-backs in the league.
Centre-back: Jaka Bijol - Leeds United
Mopped up all that came his way as Leeds held firm at Nottingham Forest before snatching a late win. Bijol made nine clearances and won nine defensive duels at the heart of the Leeds backline, earning his clean sheet.
Centre-back: Nobel Mendy - Hull City
A dream debut for the club-record recruit, who powered home Hull's second in their 2-0 win over Manchester United. The defender was a magnet to Manchester United's often aimless balls into the box, racking up 12 clearances.
Left-back: Keane Lewis-Potter - Brentford
Continues to get better and better in a defensive role. Lewis-Potter proved he can be Brentford's first-choice full-back this season with a fine performance against Spurs. He ghosted into the box to score the opener and was a threat all game.
Central midfielder: Mamadou Sangare - Brentford
Bigger clubs than Brentford took interest in Mamadou Sangare last season, and themidfielder's debut for the Bees might have some regretting their failure to make a move. The Malian appeared to cover every blade of grass in Brentford's big win over Tottenham Hotspur, suffocating Spurs.
Sangare set up the opener after a fine one-two with Dango Ouattara and received a rapturous applause upon his substitution. He cost a club record fee, but showed why on debut.
Central midfielder: Harrison Armstrong - Everton
David Moyes has admitted he has been surprised by the speed at which Harrison Armstrong has become a first-team option, and the 19-year-old was trusted to start the opening weekend. An all-action performance from the academy graduate should mean the shirt is his to lose.
Central midfielder: Jack Hinshelwood - Brighton
Scored twice inside a minute asBrighton ran riot to punish Aston Villa. Hinshelwood was right place, right time, to nod in from Diego Gomez's centre, before capitalising on another defensive mistake to fire in a second.
Hinshelwood has the smarts around the penalty box and will be targeting more goals from midfield this season.
Right-wing: Iliman Ndiaye - Everton
Everton have insisted Iliman Ndiaye is not for sale this summer and so they should. The Senegal international shone from the right against Crystal Palace, providing a constant danger to the Eagles' defence.
Ndiaye is capable of moments of magic and his cross for Thierno Barry's goal was case and point, a pinpoint delivery for the forward to nod home.
Left-wing: Christos Tzolis - Arsenal
Continued his impressive introduction atArsenal. Christos Tzolis was a goal and assist machine at Club Brugge last season and looks like he could deliver numbers in the Premier League.
An electric debut saw Tzolis tear Coventry apart on occasion and help set up Bukayo Saka for the second goal.
Forward: Yoane Wissa - Newcastle United
Who saw this coming?Yoane Wissa's first season at Newcastle was nightmarish but the forward stood up with a standout performance on the opening weekend.
Wissa led a new-look Newcastle to a draw with Liverpool and was a menace throughout for the visitors, leading the contest for duels won (11) and high pressures (41), and ranking second for shots (4), and tackles (4). Excellent work from Wissa assisted Joe Willock for the second goal.
