The Detroit Lions are bringing back one of the best offenses in football for the 2026 season, and experts say they can credit their potential to the pass catchers.
Pro Football Focus ranked all 32 receiving corps entering the 2026 season. The Lions had a strong case to be the best group, and PFF agreed.

The Lions possess the NFL's No. 1 receiver corps according to PFF.
"The only offense in the league to boast both a wide receiver and a running back with PFF receiving grades above 90.0 last season, this unit is rightfully awarded the top spot. Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of the most well-rounded receivers in football, while Jameson Williams brings both downfield and cross-field elements few players can match. Jahmyr Gibbs has a case for being the most dangerous receiving back in the league.
Don’t forget about Sam LaPorta either, who has hauled in a staggering 72% of his career contested targets; nobody else near his level of contested volume comes close to this success rate. The Lions are also expecting big things from second-year player Isaac TeSlaa, who caught six touchdowns as a rookie and didn’t drop a pass, albeit in limited play time." - Pro Football Focus
The Lions ranked ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings respectively, all of which have fascinating potential heading into this season.
For the Lions, Detroit's decision to trade David Montgomery means that Jahmyr Gibbs is expected to take full control of the Lions' backfield and offense. Gibbs ranked third in targets, catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns for running backs last season.
How effective this group as a whole is lies in Detroit's offensive line play. Quarterback Jared Goff has shown in the past he's capable of feeding all of the mouths in this offense, but only when he's given time to do so.
Last season's unit struggled to find consistency with a couple of rookies mixed in and near-weekly injury questions. As a result, Goff had some struggles when it came to jumpstarting the offense when they needed it most, averaging 2.57 seconds to throw.
Consistency this season up front should allow Goff, and therefore this top-ranked receiving corps to flourish.
