Glasnow has been on the injured list since May after coming out of a game against the Houston Astros in the second inning, just after recording the 1,000th regular-season strikeout of his career. The right-hander had back spasms, something he has struggled with throughout his career, and a few setbacks kept him on the injured list for several months.
Prior to his injury, Glasnow made seven starts for the Dodgers and posted a 2.72 ERA—the second best on the team among starters at the time behind Shohei Ohtani. He struck out 48 batters over the course of 39.2 innings pitched.
Glasnow’s best start of the season came shortly before his trip to the injured list, as he threw eight scoreless, one-hit innings against the San Francisco Giants on the road while striking out nine batters on April 23.
The right-hander began his rehab assignment in Single-A Aug. 4, making one start there before transferring to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He made four starts total during his rehab assignment, allowing just two earned runs through 13.2 innings of work with 20 strikeouts.

Glasnow instantly moved into the Dodgers’ rotation upon his return, but displaced starter Eric Lauer in the process.
Lauer has been a starter since arriving in Los Angeles, and surpassed expectations with his 3.76 ERA through 12 appearances in blue. The Dodgers moved the left-hander into the bullpen ahead of Sunday’s win against the Pittsburgh Pirates, though, citing their two rest days as a reason to move him to the bullpen.
With Lauer now in the bullpen, the Dodgers’ rotation consists of Glasnow, Cy Young winners Tarik Skubal and Blake Snell, All-Star Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the up-and-coming Roki Sasaki.
Shohei Ohtani is also on his way back, and is likely the final piece of the Dodgers’ six-man rotation. Manager Dave Roberts said the reigning MVP could pitch this week if all goes well.
