The announcement comes in the weeks leading up to their first contact with college coaches and is a precursor to the first rankings in the class. This week ILWomen will announce batches of 5-Star, 4-Star and 3-Star recruits in the class.
They aren’t fixed through the class’s recruiting cycle. More Star Ratings will continually be added and adjusted until the fall when they arrive on campus. The first batch of 5-Star consists of 30 players; the Class of 2026 ended with 40 5-Stars in the final Nike Lacrosse Rankings.
exact number depends on how each class shakes out. The following percentage is a rough guideline of what to expect in terms of Star Ratings.
- 5-Star = 2-5% of the class
- 4-Star = 12-15% of the class
- 3-Star = 40% of the class
NCAA coaches can first reach out to members of the Class of 2028 at noon ET on Sept. 1 — a change from the previous contact at midnight. (Service academies began contacting players in July.) Commitments will flow through IL's Recruiting Database, changing Class Rankings in realtime as Star and Ranked players commit.
