Denzel Boston enters the NFL as an intriguing rookie with a promising long-term trajectory but immediate limitations. Fantasy football managers should view him as a developmental stash rather than an early-season contributor in redraft formats, and maybe a DFS target should things break in his favor as the leaves turn.
Should I Draft Denzel Boston in Fantasy Football?
The Browns invested significant draft capital in Boston, and that’s always a good thing (39th overall pick). He earned that premium draft position after an explosive final collegiate season at Washington where his yards per catch increased to 14.2. He also found the end zone 11 times on just 62 receptions, a skill that can very much pay the fantasy bills should it carry over.

Managers must factor in a steep learning curve and the environment that is working against him. While Boston’s frame created mismatches in college, his size will not be as overwhelming against professional defensive backs, and that naturally will take some skill development.

And then you have the quarterback situation in Cleveland, both short-and-long term. Shedeur Sanders proved underwhelming last season, and that left the door open for Deshaun Watson, who the city and fans actively dislike, to win the starting gig this summer.
Because of these quarterback constraints, Boston requires extreme patience from managers. Boston possesses the superior long-term upside for dynasty leagues over KC Concepcion, in my eyes, because his size is something that can’t be learned. Yet, his counterpart represents the better short-term fantasy bet because he offers a slippery skill set that translates in a much cleaner way to the current quarterback limitations.

Boston relies more on vertical development, and that puts him at the mercy of the man getting him the ball. Cleveland currently lacks that in a major way, and I don’t see much in the way of positive signals. Draft Boston in dynasty formats for his physical profile, but leave him on the wire in standard redraft leagues.
