Caitlin Clark is one of the greatest players coming out of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Other talented players from the last few years include Lucy Olsen, Megan Gustafson, and Monika Czinano. Another star who has always been highly rated is Kate Martin.

Unfortunately for Martin, her WNBA career has been far from ideal. Since the 2024 draft, she has not found a permanent home. She has changed three teams in three years. The Los Angeles Sparks decided to waive Kate Martin on Saturday.
With playoffs just around the corner, a team pushing for the WNBA title might find her skills useful. And fans seem hopeful to see Caitlin Clark reunite with her former Iowa teammate.

Martin had a tough season. She played only 17 games and started none. Her averages were low, and she never really settled into the team.
Can the Indiana Fever reunite Caitlin Clark with Kate Martin?
On paper, the deal looks promising. The Fever could use Martin’s shooting prowess, which would help both Clark and Mitchell in the postseason.
The problem might come down to the salary cap. To bring Martin, the Fever would need to waive one of the players currently on the roster.
One of the least used players on the roster is Bree Hall. She has only played four games this season, averaging just 3.3 minutes in those games. If the Fever decide to waive Hall, they might be able to make space for Martin on a development contract.
