Trevor Story is over the moon after pulling off heroics in the Red Sox’s 9-8 win over the Seattle Mariners in extra innings on Monday night.
Story is going through the 11th season of his career in the majors, his fifth with the Red Sox. When healthy, he stands out a key hitter in Boston’s offense, giving them a shot at playoff contention.
However, injuries have disrupted Story’s stint throughout his time in Boston. An injury he suffered in May sidelined him for over three months, missing a huge chunk of the 2026 MLB season.

Story returned to the field on Aug. 30, going 2-for-3 in his at-bats despite Boston’s 16-1 loss to the New York Yankees. He didn’t let the loss discourage him as he came through in the clutch during the series opener against the Mariners.
The game went to extra innings as both teams were even at eight runs apiece. Story got the spotlight on him and converted an RBI single down center field, bringing home Eli White to get Boston the walk-off victory. Story reflected on the moment after the game, being proud to be back out on the field alongside his teammates.
“Huge, man. Been watching the boys do it all year. Inspire me, inspire all the guys on the aisle, man. Just trying to fit in, man. These guys have done some great work, so that’s like I told you, it’s about winning,” Story said.
“Winning run on third in the bottom of the 10th inning. They walk two guys in front of you. What’s your mindset as you step into the box?” reporter W.B. Mason asked.
“[I’m] going to end it right there,” Story replied.
After his 7th career walk-off, Trevor Story told @WebsterOnTV that his mindset during the 9th inning was, "[I'm] going to end it right there." 🔥
