Disaster Avoided: Longhorns OT Goosby 'good to go' against Texas State

· Yahoo Sports

We are just 48 hours away from Texas taking the field and it now sounds like they’ll be whole while doing it. Trevor Goosby, the Longhorns star OL, has missed the final few weeks of camp after a bone bruise on his knee. According to Sarkisian, Goosby is “good to go” this weekend after concern he could miss time. The 1st All-SEC LT makes the offensive line whole once again, a major plus heading into Week One.

Yesterday, I broke down the things I’m watching this Saturday. The top thing was offensive line cohesion and competency. Now that Goosby is back, the presumed starting unit can play together before taking the field against Ohio State.

After Goosby and Laurence Seymore not being on the field for parts of fall camp, getting them together with Robertson, Baker and Siani is invaluable.

The offensive line is the most important position group for Texas this season. It was rebuilt this offseason, adding Siani, Seymore and more from the portal, but the biggest move was retaining Goosby. Once the injury news was announced, there was concern he’d miss not only weeks, but possibly months. Turns out, he’ll miss no games. There could be a “pitch count” on him, especially if Texas can create an early lead, but No. 74 will be out there for the Longhorns this weekend.
