Friday, Sept. 4
Garfield 40, Springfield Local 14
Collin McGranahan tossed a couple of deep touchdown passes as the G-Men (3-0) found the end zone four times in the first half. McGranahan got Garfield on the scoreboard early, tossing a 48-yard touchdown pass to Oliver Walker. The senior quarterback later had a 59-yard touchdown toss to Nate Baczkowski. Baczkowski ended up with two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground. Ryder Cain also found the end zone twice, turning 14 carries into 121 yards and two touchdowns. The G-Men ran for 393 yards on 46 carries while holding the Tigers to 225 yards on offense.

Rootstown 35, Trinity 0
The Rovers bounced back from a tough loss to Independence with a dominant effort against the Trojans. Rootstown (2-1) wasted little time, rushing for three touchdowns in the first quarter. Two of those came from senior quarterback Blake Mullaly, who ran for four scores (and 151 yards) on 25 carries. Ayden Moyer had the other touchdown for the Rovers, turning 13 carries into 89 yards. Rootstown was also efficient through the air as Mullaly completed 6 of 9 passes for 85 yards with Max McEwuen catching four of those passes for 51 yards. The Rovers also impressed defensively, limiting the Trojans to just 2.6 yards per carry on the ground and 122 yards of total offense.
Roosevelt 29, Ellet 7
The Rough Riders (2-1) finished nonleague play with a winning record, led by big nights through the air from Kingston Bryant (15 of 26, 164 yards, two touchdowns), Tyler Ellington (seven catches, 75 yards, one touchdown) and Chace Dennison (five catches, 75 yards, one touchdown). Ellington also had an interception on defense while Makhi Jones (13 carries, 71 yards, two touchdowns) was a force on the ground and Isan Roberts made a 40-yard field goal.
Streetsboro 37, Alliance 26
The Rockets (2-1) won their second straight game behind a three-touchdown night from Logan Fincham. Adrian Monroe added another rushing score for Streetsboro while Dallas Morris took a punt return to the house.
Tallmadge 24, Aurora 14
Chase Waller found Brenden Conley for a couple of first-half touchdowns to put the Blue Devils (2-1) in front, including a 78-yard toss just seconds into the game. The Greenmen tied the score at 14 midway through the third quarter with Matthew Huth finding Luke Hilditch for a 16-yard touchdown pass. Tallmadge jumped back in front minutes into the fourth on an Angelo Gotto 44-yard touchdown run and Ben Bucur added insurance with a 29-yard field goal. Huth completed 13 of 23 passes for 169 yards, a touchdown and a pick with Hilditch (five catches, 87 yards) stepping up as his leading receiver. Aidan Samelko added 11 carries for 35 yards for Aurora (1-2).
Cuyahoga Falls 28, Southeast 21
Waseem Mustafa led the visiting Black Tigers (2-1) to their second win in a row at the expense of the Pirates (0-3). Mustafa ran for 223 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries and completed 7 of 16 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Luster caught the touchdown pass from Mustafa. Luster finished with three catches for 46 yards and recovered two fumbles, one of which was recovered in the end zone for a score. Carl Manuel contributed two catches for 27 yards and Emmet Berry recorded an interception.
Poland Seminary 49, Field 0
The Bulldogs took full control in the first half with 21 points apiece in the first and second quarters. That included a 67-yard touchdown toss from David Xipolitas to Caleb Scott. Five players rushed for a touchdown apiece for Poland Seminary — Tyler Antal, Chase Jones, Kyren Pope, Ashton Sattarelle and Pete Zoumis. Freshman quarterback Mason Ford led Field (1-2) in carries (14) and rushing yards (67) while Alex Williams had seven carries for 43 yards.
