Kieran Tuntivate, Rachael Rudel win Faxon Law New Haven Road Race championships

NEW HAVEN - Kieran Tuntivate held off Charles Hicks on Monday to win the 20K at the 49th Faxon Law New Haven Road Race on Monday.

Tuntivate, a 29-year old 10,000 meter specialist and Harvard graduate, finished in 58 minutes, 3 seconds. Hicks' time was 58:06.
Rachael Rudel won the women's race in 1:04.58. The 32-year old from Centennial, Colorado, won going away over Elena Hayday of Minneapolis, who finished in 1:05.53.
The race once again served as the USA 20K men's and women's national championships. Hicks and Rudel won those titles.
Tuntivate, born in Washington D.C., represented Thailand in the 2021 Olympics and holds its national records in the mile, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
Hicks ran a 2:04 to finish seventh at the Boston Marathon this year and finished sixth in last year's New York Marathon.
Joel Reichow, the top American at last year's New York City Marathon, finished sixth.
Amanda Vestri, who ran the fastest half marathon (1:07) this year of any woman in the 20K race field, placed third in 1:06.05.
Last year's Faxon Law 20K runner-up, Biruktayit Degefa, finished seventh.
The women's field boasted four runners who have run under 2:25 for a marathon (Vestri, Degefa, Elena Hayday and Jackie Gaughan).
The top two runners from last year, Conner Mantz and Hilary Bor, did not compete this year. In fact, only two of the top 10 male finishers from 2025 competed this year: Skylar Stidam (7th in 2025) and Robert Miranda (10th).
The event drew around 6,000 runners and featured a prize purse of $40,000.
Naugatuck's Jonathan Volpe won the 5K in 14:57, finishing well ahead of runner-up Mario Oliva of Stratford, who ran a 15:45. New Haven's Angela Kaiser won the women's 5K in 16:48. Ryen Frazier of Detroit was second in 16:54.
