The top seeds needed three sets to see off the unseeded pairing of Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery on Friday, eventually prevailing 5-7 6-0 6-2 to lift the trophy in Flushing Meadows. It capped a tournament in which Siniakova and Townsend had barely been troubled until Krueger and Montgomery, the 2021 US Open girls’ doubles champions, pushed them to the brink in a tense opener.
For most of the fortnight, Siniakova and Townsend looked untouchable, sweeping through their first four matches without dropping a single set. That form deserted them briefly at the start of the final. Broken in their opening service game, the top seeds spent the first set chasing the contest rather than controlling it. They clawed their way back to level at 4-4, only for Krueger to produce a string of big serves that saved two break points and kept the Americans in front. Siniakova then unravelled at the worst possible moment, netting three double faults in the concluding game as Krueger and Montgomery closed out the set 7-5.
It proved to be nothing more than a wobble. Siniakova and Townsend responded by taking total control, blitzing through the second set 6-0 without conceding a game. The momentum carried into the decider, where the top seeds pulled away to lead comfortably before a late flurry of nerves crept back in. Two more double faults from Siniakova added unexpected drama to the final game, which swung through five deuces before the pair finally sealed victory on their first match point of the match.

The win means different things for each half of the winning pairing. For Townsend, an American who has spoken of dreaming about lifting the US Open trophy since attending the tournament as a spectator as a child, this was the one Major that had eluded her: her first US Open doubles crown, achieved on home soil in front of a crowd desperate to see her succeed.
For Siniakova, it marked a different kind of milestone. The title was her 12th Grand Slam women’s doubles crown overall, but more significantly, it completed her second career Grand Slam in the discipline. She previously swept all four Majors alongside her longtime partner Barbora Krejcikova, and has now repeated the feat with a different partner in Townsend, underlining her status as arguably the most dominant doubles player of her generation.

The Siniakova-Townsend partnership has been building toward this moment for two years. The duo first joined forces to win Wimbledon in 2024, before adding the Australian Open in 2025 and the French Open earlier this year.
