Elena Rybakina warned her rivals she is far from finished after becoming world number one and winning the US Open.

The 27-year-old from Kazakhstan beat two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s Flushing Meadows final.
Rybakina had already guaranteed herself top spot in the WTA rankings as of Monday, ending Sabalenka’s 99-week reign at the summit.
Having already won Wimbledon in 2022 and the Australian Open earlier this year, the new queen of Queens only needs a French Open title to complete the career grand slam.
She said: “The main priority – I’m not getting younger – is try to keep myself healthy and definitely choose the calendar correctly, the training process.
“Of course, the goal is always the biggest tournaments, you want to win them, so the grand slams, and yeah, just try to find the balance, try to be stable.
“Yeah, we will see what’s going to happen, but definitely it’s still a lot of work to do. The job’s never done, to be honest.”
Saturday’s final was a worthy contest between the women who are clearly the top two on the planet at the moment.
Sabalenka, the 28-year-old from Belarus, shrugged off the disappointment of losing the first set to mount a fightback in the second, but Rybakina reset superbly to take the third, sealing victory with an ace.
With both players at the peak of their powers, women’s tennis has another blockbuster rivalry on its hands.
“Yeah, we have a great rivalry,” Sabalenka said. “We play a lot of great matches, great finals this season.
“Her serve is amazing, the way she’s able to step in and overpower you on court, and especially if it’s a US Open court where it’s super fast, definitely a huge advantage for her.
“A lot of things make her dangerous.”
As for losing her number one spot one week short of a century, she added: “I mean, I think that’s incredible achievement, and I don’t even know how many weeks I was able to be there.
“Was it 99? Well, that’s amazing. Let’s see if Elena can beat me in that. If she continues to play like that, then yeah, I’m in trouble.”
