Peyton Miller couldn't have scripted a better moment to score his first goal in nearly two months.
The 18-year-old homegrown rising star scored what proved to be the match-winner as the New England Revolution secured three massive points in a 2-1 win over Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field on Sunday.
Miller attacked the back post to knock in a cross from Dor Turgeman, who opened the scoring for the Revs late in the first half, to double the visitors' lead.
It was Miller's fifth goal of the season, a match-winner after Maren Haile-Selassie pulled Chicago back a goal in the 62nd minute.
The Revolution's fourth win in their last five road matches move New England to within two points of second-place Inter Miami CF in the Eastern Conference standings.
The victory also opened up a three-point gap on fourth-place Charlotte FC with nine games remaining in the regular season.
USMNT call-up inbound?
Miller's goal could be especially timely, considering US men's national team coach Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of announcing his roster ahead of the September and October international windows.
The US youth international, who signed a contract extension in July, is among a handful of young MLS players who look primed to play a role in the 2030 FIFA World Cup cycle.
Although he has yet to make his United States first-team debut, his performances for the third-place Revolution have drawn rave reviews as Miller pushes for a place on Pochettino's USMNT roster this fall.
New England return home for a massive Matchday 27 showdown with red-hot Antoine Griezmann and Orlando City on Saturday (7:30 pm ET | Apple TV). The Lions are unbeaten in their last five matches.
