Dolphins place DB on IR, sign another from their own practice squad

The Miami Dolphins lost one of their 13 picks from the 2026 NFL Draft in Week 1, as Kyle Louis suffered an MCL sprain that will cost him some time.
Now, the team has announced that they're placing Louis on injured reserve, which will knock him out until at least Week 7, as they have a bye in Week 6. He'll miss matchups against the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals.

To fill his spot on the roster, the Dolphins are promoting cornerback Jaylin Simpson from their practice squad. The 26-year-old played at Auburn from 2019-23, where he earned All-SEC honors once. In his time in the NFL, he's spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Green Bay Packers. He's recorded eight tackles in one game played.
Miami is also signing long snapper Cal Adomitis to their practice squad. The 28-year-old played at Pittsburgh from 2017-21, earning All-SEC honors once and winning the Patrick Mannelly Award. Since entering the league in 2022, he's appeared in 58 games between his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.
