Former MSU hockey defenseman signs with local ECHL team

A former Michigan State hockey defenseman has signed with a local minor league team to continue his career at the professional level.
Former Spartans defenseman Travis Shoudy has signed a standard player contract with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. The Wings are the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.

“I’m more than excited to be joining the K-Wings and staying close to home,” Shoudy said in a press release from the team. “I have heard nothing but great things about the fans and organization. I am eager to get there and get going to work with the team.”
Shoudy appeared in 17 games for the Spartans this past season, recording three assists and finishing the season with a +5 plus/minus. He started his career at Ferris State where he accumulated 43 points (14 goals and 35 assists) in 104 games.
This will be the first professional season for Shoudy.
