Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Haripur Kalsi and dedicated several important initiatives aimed at promoting the spiritual and cultural development of the region. The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of Goddess Yamuna, inaugurated Hari Ghat and laid the foundation stone for the Yamuna-Krishna Temple. A ‘Lamp of Blessings’ programme and a special prayer ceremony were also organised on the sacred banks of the Yamuna. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ceremony along with saints, religious leaders and a large gathering of devotees. The spiritually charged event transformed the Yamuna riverbank at Kalsi into a vibrant centre of devotion.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Kalsi is a land of history, faith and rich cultural traditions. The unveiling of the statue of Goddess Yamuna, the inauguration of Hari Ghat and the prayer ceremony on the banks of the river will further strengthen the spiritual identity of the region. He said that laying the foundation stone for the Yamuna-Krishna Temple is also an important step towards the religious and cultural development of Kalsi.

‘Lamp of Blessings’ Programme and Prayer Ceremony: 2,100 Lamps Illuminate the Sacred Yamuna Riverbank
The ‘Lamp of Blessings’ programme and prayer ceremony were organised on the sacred banks of the Yamuna on the occasion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday, with deep devotion and spiritual fervour. During the programme, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also lit a lamp on the banks of the Yamuna and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, peace and welfare of the people of Uttarakhand. Saints, religious leaders, devotees and a large number of people present on the occasion also lit lamps. A total of 2,100 lamps illuminated the sacred riverbank.
The glow of 2,100 lamps lit together filled the Yamuna riverbank with a magnificent and divine radiance. Amid the illuminated riverbank, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the prayer ceremony along with saints, religious leaders, devotees and a large gathering of local residents. Prayers were offered for the prosperity, peace and welfare of the state. The atmosphere, filled with faith, light and spiritual energy, became a vibrant expression of Kalsi’s rich religious and cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister said that such programmes play an important role in connecting the younger generation with India’s ancient spiritual traditions and in taking the state’s religious and cultural heritage to people across the country and the world.
₹150 Crore Approved for Hanol Master Plan
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working for the comprehensive development of the Jaunsar-Bawar region. The approval of ₹150 crore for the Hanol Master Plan is an important step in this direction. The initiative will facilitate the development of infrastructure related to religious tourism and provide better facilities to pilgrims and tourists visiting the region.
He said that special attention is also being given to the beautification and development of Lakhamandal and other historical, religious and tourism destinations in the Jaunsar region. Along with strengthening basic infrastructure, efforts are being made to develop the tourism potential of these areas.
Religious Tourism to Strengthen the Local Economy
The Chief Minister said that the government’s efforts are not limited merely to the development of pilgrimage and tourist destinations. Ensuring that the benefits of these development initiatives reach local communities is also a priority. The expansion of tourism activities will promote homestays, local products, handicrafts, transportation, food services and other self-employment activities. This will create new employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth and entrepreneurs and strengthen the regional economy.
He said that the distinctive folk culture, traditions, architecture and natural beauty of Jaunsar-Bawar are invaluable components of Uttarakhand’s heritage. Ensuring the preservation of these traditions and heritage alongside development remains a priority of the state government.
Uttarakhand Emerging as a Confluence of Faith, Heritage and Development
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the development of religious and spiritual destinations in Uttarakhand has gained new momentum. Along with the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, efforts are underway to connect various mythological, historical and religious destinations across the state with better facilities. In this direction, systematic efforts are being undertaken to enhance the religious and tourism significance of Kalsi, Hanol, Lakhamandal and the wider Jaunsar-Bawar region.
He said that the state government’s objective is to integrate Uttarakhand’s spiritual and religious heritage with modern tourism facilities so that it becomes a strong foundation for the state’s development and local employment.
