Nico Collins Injury Update vs. Bengals
Texans insider Aaron Wilson reported that Collins was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring injury and did not train on Thursday.
“#Texans Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins not practicing today, diagnosed with Grade 1 hamstring injury, per league source. Could have been worse,” Wilson wrote. Collins has had a checkered injury history; he was sidelined with a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024, which forced the Texans to place the wide receiver on injured reserve.
He was selected No. 89 overall by the Texans in the 2021 NFL Draft, and He played 14 games and made eight starts as a rookie. He was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a shoulder injury in his rookie season.
In 2022, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a foot injury. The former Michigan Wolverines star had his breakout season in 2023, recording 1,297 yards and 8 touchdowns on 80 receptions.
Collins earned his first Pro Bowl selection for the 2024 season. He also led the NFL with 567 receiving yards before suffering a hamstring injury in Week 5; Houston placed him on injured reserve the following Wednesday. He signed a three-year, $72.75 million extension with the Texans in 2024 that carried a maximum value of $75 million, reflecting his status as one of the league’s best wide receivers.
The phenomenal WR earned a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection for the 2025 season, but he missed the Texans’ Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots after suffering a concussion against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Collins is in danger of missing a game with an injury for a sixth consecutive season.

In the 2025 season, Collins hauled in 71 of 120 targets for 1,117 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns (15.7 yards per catch). He earned a PFN Wide Receiver Impact score of 80.5 (No. 10 in the league). The wide receiver has been the Texans’ leading receiver for three consecutive seasons, topping 1,000 yards in each.
Collins was quarterback C.J. Stroud’s most frequent target against the Bills (10 targets). The wide receiver had 7 receptions for 75 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Texans’ wide receiver room is extremely light after losing second-year star Jayden Higgins to an ACL tear in August. Wide receiver Tank Dell is still on the Texans’ injured reserve list and is currently rehabilitating a knee injury sustained two seasons ago.
In Collins’ absence, the Texans will turn to wide receivers Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte, Jaylin Noel, and tight end Dalton Schultz.
