USC tight end Mark Bowman named Big Ten freshman of the week

On Saturday night, the USC football team defeated Louisiana 49-30 at the Coliseum. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 3-0 on the 2026 season.

One of the standouts of the game was freshman tight end Mark Bowman. For his performance against Louisiana, Bowman was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

In the victory, Bowman led the team in receiving with six catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns. It marked the most receiving yards in a game by a USC tight end since 2009. Prior to Bowman, the most recent Trojan to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week was running back King Miller last season.

Bowman and the Trojans are back in action on Saturday when they open Big Ten play on the road at Rutgers. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. Pacific time/3:30 p.m. Eastern time on CBS.
