North Schuylkill drops to 0-4 on the season while Mount Carmel Area improves to 4-0 including 3-0 against Schuylkill League opponents on Friday night, defeating the Spartans 55-7.
The Red Tornadoes scored 21 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second quarter to lead 35-7 going into halftime before tacking on 20 more points in the second half.
The Red Tornadoes had five ballcarriers collect over 50 rushing yards including Jaylen Delaney rushing for 152 yards on 12 carries. Cooper Karycki also had nine carries for 115 yards including an 83-yard touchdown run.
Bryce Kile led North Schuylkill with 16 carries for 63 yards.
North Schuylkill visits Springfield Township next Friday night. Springfield Township will enter next weekend with a 2-2 record after a 27-6 win over Bristol on Friday.
Schuylkill Haven 43, Mahanoy Area 16
Schuylkill Haven snapped their three-game losing streak to start the season, defeating Mahanoy Area 43-16 under interim head coach John Carestia Jr.
The Hurricanes jumped out to an early 28-0 lead in the first quarter before tacking on 13 points in the third quarter en route to the blowout win. Both Colton Reber and Logan Goad had big days for Schuylkill Haven, winning with three touchdowns each. Reber finished with 15 carries for 133 yards while Goad had eight carries for 113 yards. With quarterback Bradyn Diehl out for the game, Bode Hinnershitz took over at quarterback. He finished the day with 2-for-4 throwing for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Will Stoyer was Mahanoy Area’s top weapon offensively with 21 carries for 118 yards. He also had one reception for a nine-yard touchdown.
Schuylkill Haven travels to St. Clair next Friday to take on Nativity. Mahanoy Area will also be on the road, facing Williams Valley on Saturday.
Williams Valley 33, Nativity 0
Williams Valley picked up their second-straight win and third of the season as they cruised by Nativity 33-0. Vikings’ running back Fletcher Thompson ran for 284 yards in the win while also finding the end zone four times. The Vikings’ defense continued their early season dominance, keeping Nativity to under 100 total yards in the win including just 2.6 yards per carry.
Williams Valley will look for win No. 4 next Saturday against Mahanoy Area while Nativity hosts Schuylkill Haven on Friday.
Executive Education 32, Tamaqua 30
The Tamaqua Blue Raiders fell narrowly to Executive Education Charter Academy out of Allentown 32-30. The Blue Raiders led 22-20 at halftime but were outscored 14-8 in the second half en route to their second loss.
Ace Shickram had 160 rushing yards for Tamaqua on 23 carries while throwing for a touchdown. The Blue Raiders struggled to stop Executive Education QB Shawntez Whitsitt who threw for 230 yards and ran for an additional 93 yards. Tamaqua’s C.J. Walker also had a great game with 28 carries for 133 yards and two scores.
Tamaqua next Friday will look to bounce back when they host Blue Mountain.
Panther Valley 35, Greater Nanticoke 0
Cy Maynard had three touchdowns while Tony Nunez and Chase McArdle led Panther Valley past Greater Nanticoke 35-0. Maynard finished 3-for-6 through the air for 46 yards while also totaling 10 carries for 50 yards. Tony Nunez had 114 yards and a touchdown across 10 carries while Chase McArdle had all three receptions in the win for 46 yards.
Panther Valley will face another non-league opponent next weekend when they travel to face Tunkhannock.
Pine Grove Area 21, New Hope-Solebury 12
Pine Grove picked up their first win of the season, defeating New Hope-Solebury out of Bucks County 21-12.
Pine Grove will be home next Saturday when they host Holy Redeemer.
