Jalen McMillan Fantasy Week 2 Start or Sit: Sit Tight, Stay Patient

McMillan’s knee kept him out of the opener, and rookie Ted Hurst stepped into that role and caught all three targets he saw, with Cleveland up next. He’s 71st among wide receivers in PFN’s Week 2 rankings, which is bench territory in a 113-deep list. You knew you weren’t playing him in September when you drafted him, so sit tight and stay patient.

Should You Start or Sit Jalen McMillan in Week 2?

Rookie Ted Hurst filled the role vacated by McMillan (knee) on Sunday and caught all three of his targets for 36 yards. It was a reasonable showing and pretty symbolic of the role that I think McMillan fills on a regular basis in this offense when healthy.

At face value, the role isn’t strong, but McMillan has proven himself capable of maximizing the value of targets, and that is why I’ve got him on a few benches. I’d be surprised if he cracks my top 30 at the position at any point this season provided that Emeka Egbuka is active, but this is exactly the prototype I want for bye weeks.

McMillan is a big playmaker in an offense with an aggressive QB and some secondary concerns on the other side of the ball.

You knew you weren’t going to play McMillan at any point in September when you drafted him: sit tight and stay patient. There is something to this profile, and that becomes even more true should Chris Godwin fade as the season progresses.
