A fresh AI-generated video imagining a face-off between OpenAI's Sam Altman and Anthropic's Dario Amodei has been racing across social media. The clip was made using Seedance 2.5 and it looks hyper-realistic and is a nice play on the real-world AI models at war in the market.

The clip was posted by a Chinese creator using the handle Xanderwow, who said they pulled an all-nighter to produce it using ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 video model, and admitted they weren't able to fully scrub sound effects carried over from a reference clip. In the post accompanying the video, the creator also noted that two of their Claude accounts had been banned, adding that this influenced them to depict Altman coming out on top in the fictional contest.

The video taps into a rivalry that's very real, even if the 'showdown' itself isn't. Some users treated the video as proof of how far AI video generation has come, with one poster arguing that dismissing such output as 'slop' ignores just how cinematic the results can look. Another framed it more pointedly, contrasting fears about AI enabling catastrophic misuse - nuclear weapons, engineered viruses - with the reality that a lot of what people are actually doing with these tools is making viral entertainment clips.
