Winnebago becomes Byron’s latest Big Northern Conference victim

WINNEBAGO, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Byron Tigers have been jumping on their opponents early and often this season. They did it again Friday night in a 68-8 win at Winnebago.
JJ Edmonson had a big 44-yard punt return for a touchdown early for the Tigers. Kole Aken followed with a power touchdown run up the middle from 12 yards out, and not long after that Edmonson struck again on a 28-yard touchdown run using a classic stiff-arm to ward off a Bago defender and the rout was on.
Edmonson carried the ball twice for 62 yards. Dylan Dach led Byron's ground game rushing for 109 yards on seven carries with one touchdown. Kole Aken rushed for 88 yards on 7 carries with three touchdowns. Landon Bonvallet added 47 more yards on four carries, and Ben Hiveley carried the ball three times for 70 yards.
Winnebago's touchdown was scored by its defense. Bryant Beck, putting heat on the quarterback, batted a pass, gathered it in and returned it for a touchdown.
Byron is 6-0 and headed for a showdown with 6-0 Du-Pec next week. Winnebago's record is 2-4. Watch the media player for highights.
