Joshua Palmer Fantasy Week 3 Start or Sit: Sell the Two Catches While They Still Glitter

The Chargers come to Buffalo with Palmer 74th among wide receivers in PFN’s Week 3 rankings, and the fantasy results flatter him. His 43-yard touchdown won Week 1 and the 34-yarder on Thursday came on a questionable safety decision, but those two splash plays are his only two catches of the year on five targets, and he has run 30 routes total, fewer than Keon Coleman or James Cook in both games. Quality over quantity is a thin needle to thread. There’s a 0-2 manager in your league ready to do something reckless, and dangling Palmer plus a WR3 for a WR2 is exactly the low-hanging fruit winning managers take.

Should You Start or Sit Joshua Palmer in Week 3?

For now, quality of quantity is working, but that’s a thin needle to thread when looking at the season from a distance.

There are receivers who run 30 routes per game, and Palmer has run 30 this season. I understand that you probably don’t play in a points-per-route league, but there is no denying the correlation between routes and production over the course of time (he’s run fewer routes than Keon Coleman in both games … heck, fewer than James Cook in both).

His 43-yard touchdown won the game in Week 1, and the 34-yarder on Thursday night was the result of a questionable decision by the safety that allowed Palmer to almost fair catch the Allen bomb on his way to the end zone.

The two splash scores make the fantasy results look good through two weeks, and if the 2026 Bills are truly going to attack vertically this often, I won’t fight you on Palmer at least being somewhat of an interesting add.

That said, the two catches you remember from him are his only two of the season, and it’s not as if the targets have been racking up (five to date). I’m going to guess that there’s a 0-2 manager in your league looking to make a reckless move, and dangling Palmer and a WR3 type for a WR2 is exactly the type of low-hanging, roster-improving fruit that winning managers make this time of year.
