It's been over three months since Brown was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers, but training camp this week has given the five-time All-Star his first extended opportunity to work with his new coaches and teammates.
And that has made for quite the adjustment.
"It’s a whole new system, whole new calls," Brown said. "I got to like download my brain to a different algorithm to make sure I’m not calling the wrong stuff because the names are different.
"Some of the terminology, they use the same words, but it's a whole different coverage."

It's not hard to understand why Brown feels a bit like a fish out of water.
Brown joined the Celtics as the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The 2026-27 season will mark the first time in his NBA career that he'll wear a jersey other than Boston's.
Brown now has to learn how to play alongside an entirely new group of teammates and adjust to Nick Nurse's system after spending his entire career in Boston, where he played for Brad Stevens, Ime Udoka and Joe Mazzulla.
It's not that Brown hasn't experienced change. He played for three different coaches in Boston. But he's never had to learn an entirely new organization, system and terminology.
The good news for Brown is that he still has some time to figure it all out.
Philadelphia will open the regular season on Oct. 20 at Madison Square Garden against the defending champion Knicks. That gives Brown roughly three weeks from the start of training camp to get comfortable in his new surroundings.
