GM CR Inspects Upgraded EMU Rakes, Diesel Locomotive Adorned with Swachhata Theme

Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager, Central Railway, inspected two upgraded EMU rakes and a Diesel Locomotive adorned with images of Mahatma Gandhi and Swachhata Pakhwada-themed artwork on October 2, 2026, as part of the activities organised during the launch of Swachhata Pakhwada-2026 and Special Campaign 6.0.
Shrivastava inspected the two EMU rakes stationed on platforms 2 and 3. The rakes were specially decorated with images of Mahatma Gandhi and Swachhata slogans on their interiors and exteriors.

The upgraded EMU rakes feature several improvements, including exterior artwork depicting Mahatma Gandhi and the Swachhata Pakhwada theme, highlighting the message of cleanliness and sanitation. Fleet graphics film has also been applied to the internal panels for protection and improved aesthetics.
The luggage compartments have been modified and converted into dedicated coaches for senior citizens, with communication systems installed to provide assistance during emergencies. SS grills and window louvers have been thoroughly buffed and cleaned to restore their appearance and give the coaches a refreshed look.
Standard seats with cushions have been fitted in all first-class coaches to improve passenger comfort and the overall travel experience. The driving cabs at both ends have also been upgraded with refurbished look-out glasses and properly sealed with windshield bonding sealant to ensure effective sealing and prevent water ingress.
The General Manager also inspected a Diesel Locomotive on platform 8, which was specially painted with an image of Mahatma Gandhi and his message on cleanliness. He subsequently inspected the upgraded coaches of the Janshatabdi Express. This was followed by a video presentation on the upgradation of Janshatabdi coaches on Indian Railways.
Shrivastava later visited an exhibition on the theme “Waste To Art”, organised by the Environment and Housekeeping Management department. He also witnessed a Nukkad Natak on the theme “Swachhata Hi Seva”, organised by the Central Railway Cultural Academy and jointly presented by artistes from Mumbai Division and Matunga/Parel Workshops.
Anoop Kumar Agarwal, Additional General Manager and Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, S K Sagar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Principal Head of Departments, Hiresh Mina, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, and officers and employees of Central Railway were also present during the event.
By combining structured cleanliness drives with mass participation, Central Railway reiterated its commitment to providing passengers with an enhanced, eco-friendly and hygienic travel experience across its corridors.
