Broncos have hope WR Pat Bryant avoided season-ending injury

There is hope that Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant (ankle) did not suffer a season-ending injury on Sunday, according to a report from Mike Klis of 9News. The team won't have official confirmation of that until after the receiver undergoes an MRI on Monday.

Bryant may "miss some time," but the Broncos hope to have him back later this season, according to Klis. The early indications are also positive for cornerback Pat Surtain, who's dealing with an ankle injury of his own.

Bryant, 23, went down after hauling in a 30-yard reception in the third quarter, his third catch of the game. Bryant was then carted off the field, leaving Denver with Jaylen Waddle, Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims as their four healthy receivers against the San Francisco 49ers. Denver also has four receivers on the practice squad.

"Hopefully it's not too bad and, you know, we'll get him back sooner rather than later," quarterback Bo Nix said when asked about Bryant after the game. "But I know he'll be, you know, aggressive in rehab and I know he wants to be back out there with us."

Bryant was picked by the Broncos in the third round of last year's NFL draft out of Illinois. Bryant, who suffered two concussions last season, hauled in 31 receptions for 378 yards and a touchdown in 15 games as a rookie. His nine targets through the first three games of the 2026 season ranked fourth on the team.
