As a weather system in the Gulf of Mexico is virtually certain to become Tropical Storm Isaias and maybe even a hurricane in the coming days. The track of the storm is currently aimed east of Texas and potentially toward the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama with potential landfall later in the week.

That means the No. 6 Crimson Tide's home game in Tuscaloosa against the No. 2 Bulldogs on Saturday could be plagued by lots and lots of rain.

"Alabama athletics is closely monitoring the weather forecast ahead of Saturday's football game vs. Georgia," a statement from the school said. "At this time, there are no plans to alter the contest. We will continue to observe conditions throughout the week and remain in communication with the Southeastern Conference office, as needed."

Alabama's statement came hours after Al.com published a story interviewing meteorologist James Spann, the most widely respected weather voice in the state.

"We've got potential for a hurricane making landfall in Mobile Bay," Spann told the site. "The Alabama-Georgia game, a presidential visit, 'College GameDay,' You got the big [Zach Bryan] concert at Auburn. This is the National Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores this weekend, which is huge. I mean you could not … it's gonna be a nightmare."

Yes, Spann is referring to President Donald Trump. The president is expected to be in attendance for the game. It's the second SEC game he's attended in three weeks. He was at Texas' win over Tennessee in Week 4. ESPN's pregame show was also in Knoxville for that game.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for just after 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. It's the only matchup of top-10 teams and one of just two matchups between teams in the AP Top 25 in Week 6.
