College GameDay predicts Georgia-Alabama winner
· Yahoo Sports
Severe weather before the matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs (5-0) and Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0) pushed ESPN's College GameDay inside this week. The show was set up inside Coleman Coliseum, Alabama's basketball arena, instead of outside, but as they say, the show must go on.
The crew traveled down to Tuscaloosa to see a rematch of the SEC championship at 7:30 p.m. ET, with Bryce Young, a former Alabama Heisman Trophy winner, selected as the guest picker. Young faced off against Georgia in the 2022 national championship, where the Bulldogs got the better of him to win the championship.

Everyone except Pat McAfee predicted the Crimson Tide to win. Kirk Herbstreit didn't pick either team, since he is broadcasting the game with Chris Fowler on ABC. Desmond Howard predicted Alabama to win because they're more battle-tested, with their competition being stronger than Georgia's. Nick Saban, who coached Bryce Young at Alabama, praised Kirby Smart but also praised the togetherness of Alabama's team, so he predicted the Crimson Tide. Young also chose his alma mater, citing the current Alabama quarterback, Keelon Russell.
Then it came to Pat McAfee, infamous for his fakeout SEC championship in 2023, where he insinuated he was picking Georgia only to pick Alabama. He riled up the Alabama Crimson Tide fanbase in attendance, but he picked Georgia, where he was met with boos and brought to the floor by Bryce Young and Nick Saban.
GameDay's Georgia-Alabama picks
- Desmond Howard: Alabama
- Nick Saban: Alabama
- Bryce Young: Alabama
- Pat McAfee: Georgia
